Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal, but the Gunners can be forced to look somewhere else in their search for a new frontman
Mikel Arteta remains a huge admirer of Alexander Isak, but Arsenal is aware that Newcastle does not want to sell their star stitches and demand an astronomical amount if they were forced to cash in in the Swede.
Isak, 25, has established itself as one of the best strikers in Europe since he moved to Newcastle in 2022. However, his goals in the Premier League have not gone unnoticed, with both Arsenal and Liverpool who wanted to sign in the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners, just like their title rivals, need a new No. 9. But whether they will see Isak as a really feasible target when they are preparing to make their move in the market is a different matter.
As set out in a new report from the Athletic, Arsenal's concerns about a possible movement for Isak relates to the position of Newcastle in relation to the player. In essence, the magpies have no appetite for selling and very few clubs could actually afford to meet their requirements for the striker, which is under contract for another three years.
And with Arsenal with two other goals on their summer shortlist, it is still to be seen whether they actually go to Isak or not.
Sporting Lisbon -striker Viktor Gyokeres would now stand up as a serious target for Arsenal, where the former Coventry City was expected to leave his current club at the end of the season.
The report notes that the new sports director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta, is a long -term admirer of Gyokeres, who has collected an incredible 85 goals and 26 assists about 92 games since he moved to Portugal on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

The Gunners also made a lot of basis on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who was reserved as the top of the top of the club for the 2024-25 campaign. The Slovenia International, however, chose to sign a new contract with Leipzig and there are no guarantees that Arsenal will move for him this summer.
Arsenal saw an offer for Ollie Watkins rejected by Aston Villa in January after losing Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to seasonal injuries.
From Berta he is expected to have a prominent statement in the summer transfer activity of Arsenal after being unveiled this weekend as a replacement for EDU for EDU, which could indicate that a dive for Gyokees is more likely than Isak.
