The legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called the five players in world football that he likes to look at in 2025 – with exciting superstars from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.
In an attempt not to be biased, Wenger stated that he would not call Arsenal players, but we are sure that Bukayo Saka would have made the cut if he did. Here are the five players who Wenger Koos.
5. Lamine Yamal
Think back to the 2006 Champions League final, when Barcelona Wger's Gunners conquered. Yamal would not be born for another year.
In fact, the Wonderkid from La Masia was only 10 years old when Wenger said goodbye to Arsenal in 2018.
He is already there with the best attackers in the world and tears it in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Yamal's shameful goal and assistant against Benfica are proof of an alien talent.
4. Cole Palmer
The Talisman of Chelsea can pass a dry enchantment when it comes to goals and helps now, but there can be no doubt about his quality after 18 exceptional months at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old has announced himself as one of the most talented players of his generation since he left Boyhood Club Manchester City in search of more regular play options.
Palmer has achieved an incredible return of 39 goals and 21 assists in just 78 performances for the blues. With such an output, no wonder he comes to Wenger from his chair.
3. Vinicius Junior
Wenger has checked the Brazilian as one of the players who are most likely to challenge this year's balloon d'Or.
Vinicius has not been in his best form since he lost the most prestigious individual distinction of football in October, but you would not bet he came back to life for the last phases of the Champions League.
He has had a talent for producing his best performances on the biggest stage in club football in recent years, after he had already scored major goals in two different victories in the Champions League.
2. Kylian Mbappe
The only one of Wenger's French countrymen who makes the list is a solid, obvious choice.
You will not be shocked to hear that Wenger tried (and failed) to sign Mbappe when he was a teenager.
“We can talk about Mbappe, I was home when he was not decided whether he should expand his contract with Monaco,” Wenger told Bein Sports.
“He could have come to Arsenal for free. I would say that every club is so full of histories. “
1. Mohamed Salah
The time of Salah in Liverpool only overlapped with Wenger's Lange Stint in Arsenal for one season. But he has a lot of respect for the former Gunners coach and even received some wise advice.
“I think so,” Salah agreed, when Steve McManaman suggested that the difference between good and great players is the opportunity to score match-winning goals in an interview about TNT Sport.
“I think I received that advice from Arsene Wenger in the past. I actually asked him the same question because he had great players in his career.
“He told me: 'The big players, it doesn't matter how he performs in the game. He always stays focused and is waiting at the moment. He is always in the game '. And I took that into account a few years ago. '
And the respect goes both sides. Salah was the first choice of Wenger and he is enthusiastic about his performances this season.
“What I like most in his career: he got better and better, more clinical every year,” Wenger told Bein Sports.
“He is doing less quantity today, but he does not lose quality, and that shows that he is not only a great talent, but also a very intelligent player.
“He has found a good balance between obsession to score goals and to give the ball. We had a period between him and [Sadio] Mane, there were tensions, because everyone tried to score without passing the ball.
“He understands that he must be really great, he has to contribute and he really did that well.”
