Arsene Wenger teases huge change to football days after angering Man Utd fans

Arsene Wenger is now the FIFA's head of global football development and has been pronounced about his vision of sport with the laws around the outside of one of the areas he would like to see changed

Arsene Wenger has suggested that a large reform of the offside rule of football could come as soon as next year. The legendary Arsenal -Baas has long been a main proponent of making a change and it is now on the agenda.

Wenger, now the FIFAs Chief of Global Football Development, hopes to introduce a 'daylight' principle in Buitenbuiten. A player would be considered aside as a part of his body that can score a goal, stay behind or be the same with the relevant defender.

The idea was first proposed in 2020 and after positive tests in Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands and Wenger have hoped to get ahead quickly with changes by the International FA Board (IFAB).

And there seems to have been some acceleration for Wenger's offer to resolve the problems with offside decisions, with a possible judgment next year. Wier said about Bein Sports: “It was decided in 1990 that it is not offside if you are on the same line as the defender and the striker has an advantage if there was doubt.

“With VAR this benefit has disappeared. I think they have canceled 37 goals on marginal outside in England, it is very frustrating. That is why I have suggested that as long as you are on the same line, you are not offside. In a year the decision will be made by IFAB, not by me.”

In recent weeks, Wenger has proven an open book in his thoughts about football. The Frenchman may have performed in some areas of Manchester and London, because he suggested that it is 'not good' that the winner of the Europa League will be rewarded with a place in the Champions League.

Manchester United and Tottenham are both in affordable positions to make the final of the competition and the Premier League could be an extra place in the Champions League. UEFA made the decision to offer a place in the competition as a reward for the victory in the Europa League in 2014

Wenger has called on that this will be revised and believes that the policy is unfair. Asked for his position, he said. “No – they have to automatically qualify for the Europa League, but not necessarily for the Champions League.

“Especially if you are in the Premier League where five teams are already eligible. I think it is something (for UEFA) to think about and assess.

“On the other hand, people will tell you that in order to keep the Europa League focused, interesting and motivated, you have to give them that prize (of qualifying for the Champions League).”

As it looks now, they can, despite United and Spurs, both in the lower half of the Premier League, win a place in Europe's top match. Four teams in the competition are usually eligible, but the Premier League has won an extra place because of the collective performance of English teams in Europe.

A tournament repair of United of Spurs would see a sixth place that has been awarded.
