Arteta issues Bukayo Saka injury update after Arsenal star subbed off on return

Bukayo Saka impressed his first start since the return of an injury when Arsenal Real Madrid struck, but the winger had to be removed with 15 minutes left over

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is 'great' after the winger was strayed at his first start from the injury. Saka was selected from the OFF in Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinals collision against Real Madrid.

The wing player pulled his return to a lively representation of the right wing. Two beautiful free kicks from Declan Rice and Mikel Merino's strike brought the Gunners in full control over the draw on the way to the second stage of next week in the Bernabeu.

Regarding Saka, a clear injury was forced to go with 15 minutes to be replaced by Leandro Trossard. But Arteta is convinced that the Englishman will recover soon.

And he insisted that he did not expect the winger to be sidelined for some time. The Gunners -Baas also paid tribute to the performance of Saka and the way in which he helps the team as a whole.

“He is fine, I think it was a staircase on the Free-Ur promotion. He raises the level of the team. It is a fear factor every time he is on the ball because he is a real threat and, moreover, he generates more room for the team,” Arteta told Prime Video.

Arteta was happy with his team for the way they wipe Madrid aside. And he brought a special tribute to the home crowd for the atmosphere they created at the Emirates.

“Great. I am so happy, so proud. We have the chance to make many people happy and we certainly did that,” Arteta added.

“I have never seen the stadium like that. Before the game they already played the game and that created the night. For large European nights you need stadiums that atmosphere can create.

“You need individual magic and we go there. We have not scored a free kick since 2021. And tonight we scored two in 12 minutes.

“If there is a player who is possible, it is December, then you have to do it at the highest level. We did things very well, but in the end we missed the latter connection. We managed to do so much better in the second half.

“We have to go there. We know that we have to perform again and prepare to win it. It is a different step in the right direction and we have to do another in the Bernabeu.”
