Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he is proud but also disappointed after his side gave up a two-goal lead to a 2-2 draw against visitors Aston Villa on Saturday.
The result meant the Gunners now sit six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after playing one more game.
Arteta's side took the lead after goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, but Unai Emery's Villa hit back through Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins to salvage a draw.
Arsenal have now dropped twelve points from the winning positions in the Premier League this season, the most in a single season since 2019/20 (21).
Although the draw extended Arsenal's unbeaten run in the league to 12 games, Arteta believes his side deserved more.
“We were incredible. I'm so proud of the way we played and how dominant and fluid we were and how much we put into it,” the Arsenal manager told BBC Sport.
“We played three games in six days. So proud of them, but at the same time so disappointed. We deserve more. We didn't get it and that's why we're sad.”
“The speed, energy, quality and level of performance. It's the best performance we've had against Villa because they're a really good team. But we have to get the result.”
The points will be shared at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's good work earlier in the match was undone during a chaotic eight minutes in the second half when the visiting side scored twice.
It was the first time they had failed to win a home Premier League match after leading by two or more goals since October 2019, when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace.
“We were nowhere near the standards of what we demanded. It's a fine line against them because they keep you on the edge all the time,” Arteta said.
Arsenal thought they had scored the winner when Mikel Merino's strike deflected off Havertz, only to have the goal canceled out by the referee after a VAR review for a handball from the German striker.
'Yes, I saw it. From one angle it doesn't seem like it [handball] and from another angle it looks like handball,” Arteta said of the incident.
“The decision has been made. We had many more chances that we could have eliminated without that goal.”
Arsenal next take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, where they have collected thirteen points from six games.
