Arteta reveals what derailed their title bid with Gunners to miss out on crown

Mikel Arteta has suggested that injuries and red cards have left Arsenal to miss the Premier League title for a third consecutive season.

If the Gunners lose on Sunday in Ipswich Town and Liverpool defeated Leicester, the men of Arne Slot will grab the title.

It follows the Noord -London club that finished in second place in the previous two campaigns.

Their season this time was destroyed by injuries to important players such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, as well as controversial decisions about referee.

They include Myles Lewis-Skellies who send against Wolves in January, who was later withdrawn by the FA from a profession, and a red card for Declan Rice for tapping the ball in August against Brighton.

When asked whether Arsenal could have done more to challenge Liverpool, Arteta said: “There would certainly be things we could have done.

'If not, you would have won every game, regardless of injuries, every situation, every red card, a referee decision. But it is what it is.

'We will make an analysis of what we have done well and not so well at the end of the season.

'But probably the question would be, if you asked me in August:' With all these things that will happen to your team, where do you see your team finishing? '

“That would probably be the correct answer (second).”
