Arteta: Saka injury ‘doesn’t look anything serious’

Mikel Arteta said that the injury was sustained by Bukayo Saka in the 4-0 victory of Arsenal in Ipswich Town “looks nothing serious”.

At the end of a bad tackle by Leif Davis, Saka was in the Premier League match on Sunday that led to the Ipswich defender received a straight red card.

The international of England stayed on the field for another half an hour and missed several big chances, but he had to tie himself up after he left.

With the semi-final first stage of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain only nine days away, Arteta played the severity of the issue.

“He is in a bit of pain, but luckily it doesn't look too serious,” Arteta told Sky Sports.

“I didn't see the tackle – it was pretty fast. You have to look at it, but it's a good decision by the referee.”

Davis' resignation After 32 minutes was the earliest for an Ipswich player in a Premier League match since Phil Whelan in December 1994, also against Arsenal (23rd minute).

Arsenal was a goal ahead at that time due to the strike of Leandro Trossard, before Gabriel Martinelli doubled the number of visitors before the break.

Trossard added a second and Ethan Nwaneri was also late on the score sheet when Arsenal made it 12 away competition matches without defeat.

The victory also slows the title celebrations of Liverpool until at least Wednesday.

“I am really happy with that version, especially the way we started the game with 11 to 11,” Arteta added.

“The first 35 minutes were exceptional. We scored two and could have scored three or four. After sending, the game was changed.

“We have checked the game well. We missed a little threat, but we scored two good goals. We have cleared players and rest players, so a good afternoon.”

Trossard has now been directly involved in 11 goals in his last 13 Premier League matches against promoted opposition (five goals, six assists).

The attacker did not start any of the two legs of the quarterfinals victory of the Champions League on Real Madrid, but made his claim to start against PSG.

“He looked very sharp,” said Arteta about the Belgium International. “We know his quality. Place it on the right, left or middle and he will deliver.”

In the meantime, Ipswich has only taken 21 points of 33 games this period and are 15 points of safety with five more games to play.

“It was a tough afternoon,” said Ipswich Baas Kieran McKenna. “The first half hour was really difficult.

“The game was almost ready [at half-time] And we had to show the right values, and we did. They scored two goals of short corners.

“The opponent was too strong for us today when 11 versus 11, and with 10 men it was almost impossible.”
