Arteta says there is ‘a lot of time left’ for Arsenal to make more signings

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was reluctant to talk about Transfer -target Viktor Gyokeres on Monday, but said that there was “a lot of time left in the window” to strengthen his team.

“He is not yet part of our group,” said Arteta reporters in Singapore of Sporting Lisbon's Swedish striker prior to pre-season Friendships against AC Milan and Newcastle United this week.

“And I have nothing to offer concrete to a player who is not yet part of the group,” he added.

The English Premier League Arsenal has so far signed Kepa Arsenal from Chelsea, Christian Norgaard from Brentford, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and, most recently, Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Arteta still wants to strengthen its attacking options, whereby Arsenal reportedly offers a deal of £ 70 million ($ 94 million) for the productive Gyokees, who scored 54 goals in 52 games in Portugal last season.

“There is still a lot of time in the transfer window, and we are still looking for the figures,” said Arteta

“We are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the team.

“But for now I concentrate on the players we already have, and I am very happy with what I have seen so far.”

Arteta is well aware that Arsenal has not won the Premier League since 2004 and that his team should get better after the second end in each of the last three seasons.

“I don't have to convince (the players) of winning the Premier League. I know how good they are and we all want to take the next step,” said Arteta.

“It is our job to place ourselves in the best competitive position to achieve our goal. That is our individual responsibility,” he added.

The North London side plays AC Milan in Singapore on Wednesday, followed by a collision with fellow Premier League -side Newcastle on Sunday.
