AS Monaco captain Denis Zakaria ruled out of PSG clash

Just a few hours before the top match against Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco suffered a blow when captain Denis Zakaria (28) was ruled out due to an injury.

Zakaria suffered a hamstring injury during the warm-up before the match against Toulouse FC earlier this month. He missed that match, as well as the defeat to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League just days later. He also missed the draw against Stade de Reims this weekend, but there were hopes he would return to PSG.

Adi Hütter said on Monday there was a “possibility” to see the Swiss international against Les Parisiens. He added that a decision would be made on Tuesday regarding his participation against PSG at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday evening. Monaco have now announced their matchday squad and Zakaria is not in it.

Hütter said before the match against Arsenal that if Zakaria was not fit enough to face PSG, he would not feature again in 2024. It means the midfielder is also expected to be absent from the Coupe de France match against L'Union Saint-Jean. on weekends. Against PSG, Aleksandr Golovin or Soungoutou Magassa are expected to replace Monaco's captain.
