AS Monaco open to further signings amid links to West Ham’s Edson Álvarez

AS Monaco has already secured the signing of Mika Biereth (21) from Sturm Graz. The former Arsenal striker was presented to the press on Monday and as CEO Thiago Scuro revealed, more players could be on the way due to his links with West Ham United's Edson Alvarez.

At a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Scuro confirmed that Monaco's transfer window may not be over, albeit without mentioning which parts of the pitch were targeted. “We discussed a lot and tried to realize what other parts of the team we can improve. We can still do something [in the window]”, began the CEO of the club Principality.

He added: “It is important to point out that we are fully committed to our financial plans. We have a plan that has been submitted to the DNCG. We are committed to all rules surrounding the competition which we fully respect and support. We are trying to find something that offers Adi (Hütter) more options and alternatives for the team. Compared to last season we have a lot more competition and a lot more games and at times the size of the team was a problem due to suspensions and injuries. We have an opportunity to address these topics and we are discussing them.”

Midfield is reportedly a sector that Monaco wants to strengthen. Fabrizio Romano reports that the club have rejected a loan offer for Alvarez from West Ham. Scuro added that it is also possible that there will be departures during the first part of the season with “some players not meeting expectations.” “We are also working in this direction,” Monaco's CEO confirmed.
