AS: Real will spare no expense to sign a midfield star, Rodri is the Top Target

According to AS, Real Madrid are willing to spend great spent this summer to sign a top class midfielder. Club managers believe that the time has come to bring a controversial player of the 'hence type' to orchestrate midfield, rather than opting for free transfers or cheap deals.

The departure of Luka Modrić, despite his willingness to take a wage reduction and to accept a banking role, was a club decision – a part of a generation oversevision. This movement indicates Madrid's intention: a large signing of midfield is coming.

Rodri, the 28-year-old midfielder of Manchester City, is the best choice. Despite a considerable setback in the past, club managers remain very interested. Rodri has always expressed a favorable picture to play in the Santiago Bernabéu. Negotiations with the city would not be easy, but Madrid believes it is worth it. His performance in the UEFA Nations League Final Four will be closely viewed.

Other goals are:

• Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool): highly appreciated by Madrid but would cost around € 90 million. His contract runs until 2028. After the recent Arda Güler -deal, relations with Liverpool are stable but not ideal.

• Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan): a favorite of the scouts of Madrid. He just renewed until 2030 and his price tag is almost € 80 million.

• Enzo Fernández (Chelsea): sharp interest on the part of the player; Contact is made. But Chelsea regards him as inviolable and is not willing to negotiate, with a possible reimbursement of more than € 100 million.

For more affordable options, Madrid is also monitoring:

• Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart): a breakout player in the Bundesliga, left foot, 1.83 m long, mainly a deep playmaker.

• Hugo Larsson (Frankfurt): Law-footed, 1.87 m long, more a box-to-box or attacking midfielder.

Both cost around € 40 million and are seen as promising bets for the future, although it is unclear whether she can handle the pressure of playing for Madrid.

Madrid's departure has missed a real midfield general. While the team is full of powerful midfielders such as Tchouaméni, Camavinga and Valverde, nobody checks the rhythm just like Modrić. That is why the club is determined to act decisively this summer – even if it means a major financial investment. This is a top priority and it won't wait.
