AS Roma set asking price as Villarreal chase former La Liga Golden Boot winner

Former La Liga star Artem Dovbyk could go back to Spain this summer when Roma set their asking price.

Dovbyk led the historic very first UEFA Champions League qualification of Girona in 2023/24, while yielding 24 goals on the Top-Flight.

Girona took fourth place in the final ranking and Dovbyk claimed the Pichichi trophy for Alexander Sorloth.

Their spectacular form meant a movement for the 2024/25 campaign, while Dovbyk went to Roma and left Sortloth Villarreal for Atletico Madrid.

Sorloth did a little better in Madrid, scored with 20 league goals, even though they are not always the first choice for Diego Simeone.

Dovbyk took 12 Series A goals in his debut year in Italy, but he is said to be restless in Rome and the club is considering their options on him.

Evan Ferguson has made an impression since he participated in a seasonal loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the Irishman on fire in the preseason, and Dovbyk could now force an exit.

Reports of the Italian Outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport indicate that Roma will not punish a price sale, with the Ukraine international under contract until 2029, and a starting rating of € 38 million has been established.

Newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United is said to go to an offer, but Villarreal also consider a proposal to bring him back to La Liga.

Newcastle United is in the race, in the midst of continuous speculation about the future of Alexander Isak in St. James' Park, and that could cause a bidding war with an increased price.

Marcelino has already completed a number of smart things, with Villarreal back in the Champions League, while Santiago Mourino, Tajon Buchanan and Alberto Moleiro Land in Castellon Land.

The departure from Thierno Barry to Everton, however, has removed a target threat from his ranks, and Dovbyk could be a candidate to fill the void if Marcelino holds his Premier League rivals.
