Morgan Rogers turned out to be the hero of Aston Villa when he took a goal and an assist to help his side Tottenham from the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory in Villa Park.
The result saw more printing pole up Tottenham -Baas Ange Postecoglou, whose some chance to take a trophy this season will now have to come to the Europa League.
Villa made a lightning of the competition and was paramount in the opening minute when Rogers feeded Jacob Ramsey, whose strike wriggled through the handle of Antonin Kinsky.
Kinsky, however, resisted his earlier error moments later to deny Villa for another second, stretched out to his right to claw Leon Bailey's curled effort of danger.
But Spurs almost immediately went against the Run of Play, but son Heung-Min saw his attempt at close-range stopped by a brilliant rescue by Emiliano Martinez.
The meeting was given an end-to-end feeling after the break, where Bailey Kinsky once again forced Ramsey with Ramsey who fired the rebound against the post.
Villa, however, doubled their lead in the 64th minute when the cross of Donyell Malen was cleaned up by Pedro Porro, only for Rogers to hit the ball home in the box.
Mathys Tel, at his complete start by Tottenham, reduced the deficit in the first minute of the second half of the stopping time after changing Dejan Kulusevsky's Cross past Martinez.
But Tottenham could not find a winning goal, which means that for the first time since 2014-15 (a point of three) from the FA Cup they have been eliminated from the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons (a point of three).
Data Debrief: Rogers de Koning of Villa Park
Rogers continues to impress in his breakthrough year with Aston Villa, with his strike against Tottenham who takes him to 11 goals in all matches this season.
The 22-year-old has now scored eight goals in his last eight performances in Villa Park. Since the beginning of December this is indeed the most goals scored by a Premier League player in a specific location on all competitions (one more than Cody Gakpo in Anfield, Seven).
He also played a major role in Ramsey's early opener. The strike set Villa on its way after just 57 seconds, and was the fastest FA Cup goal in a Premier League side since the Ilkay Gundogan strike in the 2023 final (12 seconds -for Manchester City versus Manchester United).
Villa has now also won both FA Cup matches in 2024-25 (2-1 V West Ham and 2-1 V Tottenham), as many victories as they are combined in the competition in the previous nine seasons (W2 D2 L9 in between 2015-16 and 2023-24).
