Emi Martinez hinders the French again – with an Argentina hat and the colors of his nation painted in his hair.
The Aston Villa keeper, who was the last penalty shoot-outheld of 2022 against France, wore a baseball cap that seemed to mock his hosts when he arrived in front of the Champions League collision against Paris Saint-Germain.
Villa boss Unai Emery has warned his goalkeeper to “control his emotions” for the quarter-finally first stage in Parc des Princes.
But Martinez was on his usual “s *** house” antics at attracting a cap that showed the four international titles that he won with Argentina – and had signed a French Hul in Pen.
Martinez, 32, also seemed to have the blue and white Argentina flag in the side of his head.
Normally he paints his hair for international duty, but apparently left it behind to mock Les Bleus.
But Emery, who also managed Martinez in Arsenal, insisted: “He is mature and responsible. He gets better at controlling his emotion.
“Since he arrived in Aston Villa five or six years ago, he has been another Emiliano Martínez.
“He is more mature, he is a better player, a better keeper. He is the best goalkeeper in the world.
“My conversation with him is always the same – focus on football, focus on the individual challenges. And try to control your emotions.”
In addition to his heroic deeds, Martinez's Gameship made him the public enemy no. 1 in France and he was made by Villa's Conference League in Lille last season.
Emery added: “Football is about understanding the supporters and how they support their team.
“It's only football. Our fans will support us and their fans will support Paris. Hopefully everything will be respectful.”
Midfielder Youri Tielemans made light from the antics of Martinez.
He said: “I don't really care what he does. I'm just here to play the game and what happens to EMI – happens as long as it remains respectful.
“That is just his style. He is ready and has spoken nothing but for another game. He is focused and he looks forward to it.”
