Marcus Rashford scored his first goals for loan club Aston Villa on Sunday, while defeating Preston North End with 3-0 to seal their place in the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley
Jacob Ramsey says he is back at his best – and believes it won't be long before Marcus Rashford is. The midfielder of Aston Villa scored the goal that helped seal the first semifinal performance of the club in ten years with the 3-0 win in Preston.
That followed a brace for the On-Loan Manchester United star, and Ramsey, who previously sustained a miserable campaign with a series of toe injuries, believes that he is not far from the form that hesitated on a call-up of the Senior England. He said: “It has been coming for a while. After the Champions League match, I spoke with Celtic and thought my form was improving.
“It is so hard to come back from injuries after injury. You feel that you are coming there, and then you get a Negro.
“For me I was gone last year and at the start of this season I didn't feel great. So, fingers crossed now that I can continue.”
Asked if Rashford went through a similar adjustment after his temporary switch from Old Trafford, Ramsey said: “Yes, 100 percent. You can see in training and even watch the England matches that he got that confidence back. Two goals in the FA Cup … he will buzz and hopefully he can score.”
Villa's season remains ahead. Premier League matches against Brighton and Nottingham Forest This week will significantly influence their chances of ending in the top four. Although accepting the FA Cup was 'important' for the supporters, Villa's boss has hammered the priorities of the club in his players.
Ramsey said: “The next two months must be our best two months of the season – that's what keeps the boss say. We have big games in the Champions League against PSG. But this week against Brighton and Forest – they are huge for us trying to return to the Champions League next season.
“But the boss made it very clear – even in the preseason – that the Premier League is the main objective. The other competitions come after that. If players play you in the Champions League, and you always want to be focused, but the boss is so good at remembering us – what we do in the champions League this year.

A date in the last eight against Paris Saint-Germain is waiting and now waiting for a trip to Wembley with a price of the last if the men of Unai Emery can find a route along Crystal Palace. Ramsey added: “For me it is a bit more special as a Villa fan. Of course I went to Wembley twice, maybe three times. Semi-final and final in the cup and then the game.
“I remember that I looked at Jack (Grealisk) of his striking performances when he was against Liverpool when he was young. Then, the disappointment of the final against Arsenal. The play-off final against Derby. But this will be my first in the team, so I will enjoy it, especially because my family will come.”
