
Champions League officials were left on Tuesday evening with a red face the national anthem of the Europa League was accidentally played before the quarterfinals collision of Aston Villa against Paris Saint-Germain. Anticipation was building in Villa Park in what was one of the biggest games in the history of the club.
But supporters could have forgiven themselves because they thought they were playing in a different competition.
While both sets of players stood in line, everyone in the ground expected to hear the classic Champions League population of Tony Britten. But Amazon Prime viewers noticed that there had been a huge blunder when the wrong music started playing.
PSG players looked visibly stupidity during the strange moment, because Ousmane Dembele was seen who made a confused face, while Vitinha was seen to look at his teammates.
Fortunately at the last minute at the last minute the right Champions League Anthem was played for a short period of time – but it did nothing to hide the mistake.
Fans remained stunned on social media in the same way, because they wondered what had happened to such a mix-up.
A supporter decided to poke pleasure in Manchester United while she tweeted: “Madness! Did Villa De Man United DJ hired who played the Europa League people instead of UCLs?”
Another added: “One of the biggest nights in their history and someone plays the Europa League population song instead of the Champions League One in Villa Park. That is hilarious.”
It was a disastrous start of the evening before Villa when Achraf Hakimi opened the score for PSG in the first 11 minutes, before Nuno Mendes doubled their lead 20 minutes later to make the score at 5-1.
A third fan wrote: “Villa treated to the Europa League theme music when the players came out instead of the CL anthem, then 0-1 down in 11 minutes (1-4 aggregated). All very sad really.”
Villa fans got a fantastic hope just before the break when the strike of your Tielemans was bent – with Emery's men who still had a mountain to climb.
