Aston Villa wait to learn if they will face punishment after bottle thrown from crowd hit referee following PSG game

Aston Villa will learn in the coming days whether they will be punished by UEFA for the bottle thrown out of the crowd to referee Jose Maria Sanchez.

The Spanish officer had made Villa Park angry with some of his decisions during the 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, so Villa de Champions League was in the quarterfinals, 5-4 in total.

While Sanchez went to the tunnel full -time, a plastic bottle was launched in his direction of the stands, and missed him closely.

Proponents who have committed such crimes are usually confronted with clubs' life – or at least important – if they can be identified.

Villa was also furious that only three minutes were added when they insist on the goal that the draw would have brought to extra time.

Now Villa is confronted with a crucial week, with Premier League matches against Newcastle and Manchester City before they stand opposite Crystal Palace in Wembley for a place in the FA Cup final.

Two victories in those Premier League matches will improve Villas opportunities to reach the Champions League again in the next term.

Midfielder Youri Tielemans said: 'I think the recruitment was really good in January, the players who arrive have shown their level and showed a good mentality.

'I think when you enter new players, the level increases and you can see part of the quality that we had tonight and clearly in other games that we have had.

“So now it's up to us to keep pushing and being back next season.”
