Atalanta bounce back with victory against Bologna

The victory of Juventus on Lecce on Saturday gave this competition even more importance in the race for the UEFA Champions League qualification, where Atalanta Bologna led with only one point prior to the kick-off.

La Dea, however, did not last long to claim their authority at this match, because they took the lead within three minutes.

Mateo Retegui has so far been in productive form this campaign and extended its lead at the top of the SA goal cards thanks to the 23rd effort of the season – the finish of a syrupe of the low cross of Raoul Bellanova.

Bologna tried to bring the game to their opponents, but halfway through half of the hosts, their advantage doubled.

After he had already shown his bravery in front of the goal, Retegui became the provider and delivered a wonderful ball in the box for Mario Pašalić to stroke Beyond Federico Ravaglia between the Bologna sticks.

The Rossoblù hit in response to the post when Marco Carnesecchi got a hand in the Dan Ndoye attempt, but Atalanta could keep their advantage on the way to the break.

The only stain of their first performance was a seriously looking injury to Sead Kolašinac, which was forced on a stretcher to be replaced by Rafael Tolói.

After the restart, the responsibility was on the visitors to find a way back to the meeting. Although the fierce attack by Benjamín Domínguez and the more tame effort from Dan Ndoye for both carnesecchi forced into rescues, Bologna's attempt to persistent pressure has barely paralyzed the Atalanta -Lijlijn.

In the end, the men of Gian Piero Gasperini went out to a much needed three points -not only their position to reinforce a place in Europe Premier Club competition again, but also terminate their waiting for a Serie A Home victory in 2025.

Bologna, meanwhile, are two points on drift of those top four places, and could fall to the sixth as Lazio Roma beating in the Della Capital Derby later on Sunday.
