Gasperini was furious with Zaniolo for taunting the Cagliari fans during his goal celebration after grabbing the winner on the day.
“Zaniolo scored a good goal and had some good moves when he came on. He has definitely improved in terms of dynamics,” said the coach.
“He has to work more on maintaining the right position and defending, especially in the final phase.
“What we cannot afford is that every time he scores a goal he sets the crows on fire and turns an advantage into a disadvantage. At that moment, Cagliari were stunned and we managed to create a situation where the crowd fired them up again.
“This is the second time he has done that and it is unbearable.”
Gasperini also said: “I have a very competitive team that sometimes, when not all eleven are playing, manages to overcome the difficulties of others. However, if we want to stay where we are now, we have to improve.
“If I have to blame the team for something, it is that we could have been more effective in attack in the final phase and therefore suffered less.
“Fortunately we have a number of warriors who are used and ready to defend in these types of matches, even if we are down one man.”
