Kylian Mbappe missed a second penalty in a week as LaLiga champions Real Madrid slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao.
A week after missing from the spot against Liverpool in the Champions League, Mbappe again fluffed his lines from twelve yards after Antonio Rudiger was fouled.
Athletic led 1-0 thanks to Alex Berenguer's effort in the 53rd minute, but Mbappe's tame effort was easily saved by Julen Agirrezabala.
Madrid leveled in the 78th minute through Jude Bellingham, but Athletic quickly celebrated a second at the other end.
Federico Valverde gifted the ball to Gorka Guruzeta, who neatly hit the winner past Thibaut Courtois.
The defeat leaves Madrid four points behind Barcelona in LaLiga, although Los Blancos do have a game in hand.
Real missed the chance to close the gap with leaders Barcelona, who sit at the top of the table with 37 points, four points ahead of second-place Real, who have a game in hand.

Data Debrief: Mbappé is making a mess of things
Mbappe has now missed two of his five penalties for Madrid in all competitions, dealing another dent for the French star as he looks to really get his career off the ground in Spain.
Madrid, meanwhile, have lost five of their last 11 games in all competitions (W6), suffering one more defeat than in their previous 73 games (W52 D17 L4).
Bilbao, on the other hand, became the only team to beat Madrid and Barcelona in all competitions in 2024.
