Victor Lindelof from Manchester United left his mark last night on one of the Athletic Bilbao players.
The Swedish center-back played a crucial role in the 4-1 Europa League semi-final victory of United on the Basque side at Old Trafford.
Benat Prados, a second half replacement, had a battle scarry to demonstrate blood, sweat and tears that the visitors of Ernesto Valverde have tried to destroy their shortage on the first leg.
Prados was introduced in the 62nd minute, with Bilbao liding 1-0 at night.
The midfielder completed a neat rear wheel before Lindelof pulled his studs in the leg of the Spaniard, causing blood to flow from an annoying cut.
He was forced a minute after Mason Mount was leveled for United.
Prados went to Instagram to show the cut he sustained from a challenge from Lindelof, who referee Daniel Siebert did not see.
Prados did not attempt TP hide his dissatisfaction with his Instagram and title The photo 'No red, no yellow, no error … Play on.'
The midfielder had to leave the field and needed stitches to repair the damage that Lindelof had caused.
Bilbao itself published an update on the state of Prados on Friday morning.
The explanation was: “The midfielder suffered a hard tackle that was not punished by the referee (or VAR) and caused a tear and contusion at the front of his right leg. His progress is being treated.”
The Red Devils moved to the final of the secondary competition of the continent with a 7-1 total victory, with Mount his second and third goals of an injury-affected campaign.
Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund also received their names on the score sheet when Ruben Amorim's side came from a goal.
They founded a meeting with fellow Premier League UnderPerformers Tottenham Hotspur, who defied the polar circle to grind a 2-0 win over Bodo/Glimt.
Bilbao was dominant in early exchanges on Thursday and rightly took the lead through the lush curl of Mikel Jauregizar where Andre Onana got a hand.
But Mount made it right, Casemiro scored with a smart header and even Rasmus Hojlund stepped on the act to tap before Mount scored a second with his long -distance effort in an empty net.
Prados will probably be a doubt for the Bilbao game on Saturday against Alaves, when they return to La Liga Action in San Mames.
