Match report
A Double for Robert Lewandowski and a Late Dani Olmo-Penalty made Leaga Champions Barcelona ended the season at a High with a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
Barcelona had already completed the title of the competition, while the qualification of Athletic Bilbao de Champions League qualification had long been confirmed and as such there was little driving on this luminaire in the San Mames.
But Barcelona looked every bit-title winners when they reached 88 points for the campaign, four for the second Real Madrid and 12 above Atletico Madrid in third place.
With the low bet of the game, head coach Hansi Flick chose to let many first teamers rest, including both senior goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with Inaki Pena who had his first start in more than four months.
Lewandowski got things in the 14th minute after he was played by Fermin Lopez, after he defeated the offside trap and kept keeper Unai Simon.
The Polish striker doubled his count only four minutes later when he went home from a corner after Unai Gomez made a mistake because of his approval.
Despite his brace, Lewandowski left a shortage of Kylian Mbappe's 31 competition goals for the season and had to settle for second place in the Golden Boot Race at 27. He missed a brilliant opportunity for his hat trick shortly after the restart, while replacing three minutes prior to a late penalty.
Olmo was polluted in the penalty area in the 92nd minute and stepped up again to take the place, so that his side brought three goals to the good and completed the victory.
5 – With 101 goals, Robert Lewandowski has become the fifth fastest Barcelona player who reaches 100 goals in all competitions (147), after Mariano Martín (99), László Kubala (103), Luis Suárez (120) and Evaristo (143). Milestone. pic.twitter.com/fytatshnoc
