Match report
After a 2-1 loss for Espanyol in their opening LABRA match last week, Athleti wants to give a response for their home fans on Saturday.
It seemed as if they would do exactly that when Alexander Sorloth told them brilliantly within eight minutes, with the Norwegian found by a PinPoint David Hancko Pass.
The lead of Atletico, however, was short-lived, because in the 15th minute a sizzling counterattacks of Elche Rafa Mir saw the same level, with the Sevilla-Leningerlee Slotted the ball along a helpless Jan Oblak.
Antoine Griezmann led the urge of Atleti for a second after the interval, but Elche held, despite the fact that the hosts had four attempts in the second half.
It still marks a disappointing day for Simeone, whose team brought great this summer, but now up to five points behind Real Madrid and Barcelona could be towards the end of the weekend.

Data Debrief: Sorloth's efforts turn out to be fruitless
Atleti ended with 1.63 expected goals (XG) and Sorloth was responsible for 0.71 of that figure. The Norway International registered two shots on goal and had 10 touches in the opposition area, which led the match.
But he couldn't find a winner and Atletico now dropped points in five of their last eight games against newly promoted LaLiga teams (W3 D3 L2), after they won 10 of their last 12 meetings with promoted sides, once pulled and once lost.
Elche has not lost any of their last six Laliga matches (W2 D5) and scored only one goal in each of them. They have failed to remain unbeaten in more consecutive games in the competition since April 1966 (G7 W4 D3).
