Atletico Madrid close the door on returning loan star

Atletico Madrid has reportedly already made a decision of the summer transfer about the future of Saul Niguez in the club.

Los Rojiblancos punished a seasonal-hose loan for the Spain International prior to the 2024/25 campaign when he switched to La Liga-Rivalen Sevilla.

Despite playing a frequent role in the previous two seasons – after a loan tint at Chelsea – Saul remained on the edge of Diego Simeone's plans in Madrid.

Both seasons include no fewer than 20 competition matches of the bank in every bank and its impact in Andalucia is just as limited.

Injuries and suspensions have played a role in his lack of fame and it is unlikely that he will start when the two clubs meet in the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this weekend.

14 League Starts has not brought the attention and both Seville and Atletico Madrid consider their next steps about the future of the 30-year-old.

According to reports from Diario AS, the small print of the loan agreement includes a clause to expand it for the 2025/26 season, which is expected to be activated in June.

That would bring him to the end of his long -term Atletico Madrid contract and solve a problem for Simeone who still has no room for him in Madrid.

Sevilla is not filled with enthusiasm about an extension to the current link, and if a transfer offer arrives at the door of Simeone in advance, both parties would like to break the tires.

Despite his lack of overall impact, Saul has still collected 345 LA Liga performances during his time in Madrid and Seville, and his first choice would be to stay in Spain.

Previous links to the Saudi Pro League have not developed, despite the financial offer that both the player and Atletico Madrid would attract, and Sevilla can request an increased wage contribution from Simeone's side if they expand the scheme until 2025/26.
