Atletico Madrid made it 15 straight wins on Wednesday as they defeated Elche in the Copa del Rey, but the result came at a cost to Diego Simeone, who will be without his most influential player for some time.
Alexander Sorloth scored twice against Elche, although he was withdrawn at half-time after taking a blow. According to Diario AS, the Norwegian striker has suffered a 'moderate' injury that will keep him out of Saturday's La Liga match against Leganes, which he also has major doubts about when he plays against Bayer Leverkusen next week.
Sorloth has not been a regular starter for Atletico Madrid since joining from Villarreal last summer, although his cameos off the bench have made him a very important player for Simeone. It would therefore be a major blow Los Colchoneros if he were not available next Tuesday against Leverkusen.
