Atletico Madrid dismiss chief scout as recruitment overhaul continues

Atletico Madrid has continued the overhaul of their recruitment department. Just over a year after the arrival of the former scout of Real Madrid and agent Carlos Bucero, the man who has credited the power change in the Metropolitano, two department heads left.

The first was Andrea Berta, the old sports director, who left the club in January after more than a decade. Berta has already been associated with a move to Serie A or the Premier League, with Arsenal tipped to be the favorite for his signature.

Now, according to relevant, Atletico has also fired head scout Juanan Perez. The 55-year-old spent time in the club as an explorer from 2013 to 2016 and returned last spring as Chief Scout, but with Berta Gone, who has his primary ally in the club, Los Colchoneros has decided to continue with the former Osasuna, Real Betis, Alaves and Getafe Man.

Previously Perez had been associated with a number of opportunities for sports director in Primera and Segunda, which suggests that, like Berta, he will not be without work. His exit coincides with the announcement that Severiano Garcia will be the new technical secretary. Just as with director of Football Bucero and sports director Berta, Garcia is expected to assume the functions of the role of Perez.

Garcia was the general director of Affiliate Mexican club Atletico San Luis until January, and previously played the same role at Puebla and for that Atlas. He is largely supposed to have done a good job in San Luis and reached two semi -finals in the Apertura of the Liga MX.

Bucero now seems to call the shots on Atletico and it is still to see how he learns Diego Simeone with manager. Berta was respected for his work in Atletico, but the couple did not agree with different signing sessions, in particular Marcos Paulo, Joao Felix and Arthur Vermeren.
