Atletico Madrid and Ster -midfielder Rodrigo de Paul are in the way at an uncomfortable point. Los Colchoneros is willing to sell the Argentina International, but he seems much less convinced by the idea.
De Paul has been a marmite figure in the Metropolitano during the seasons, which sometimes struggles for his best form and interviewed for his work ket. In the past 18 months, however, the Paul has demonstrably been the best midfielder in Atletico, and if they were in the race for the title in April, he was an important reason for it.
But with another year about his contract, Atletico is open to cashing in the Paul Say Diario ALS, which will turn 31 this week. His contract discussions have hit a dead end and there is no sign of an extension that will take place soon. West Ham United held an approach in January, which was knocked back, but he still has many admirers in the Serie A. They would demand around € 30 million for him.
However, the Paul is not planning to accept an offer. He is satisfied and settled in the Spanish capital, and happy with his role in the team, where he is a changing room leader. He called it a 'wrong' to join West Ham in January and described Atletico as a 'club that I like with values that I share' in recent months, signs of his content.
Although Pablo Barrios has become a normal, Atletico is in the middle of the difficult generation turnover. Captain Koke Resurreccion has already stopped from the starting line-up, but it is not yet clear how long the Paul has at the top of his game. One of their primary goals for this summer is a midfielder, with Johnny Cardoso supposedly at the top of their transfer list.
