Atletico Madrid has been very busy in recent weeks on the front of the transfer and with four signing sessions they are now focused on outputs.
Rodrigo Riquelme and Angel Correa have already been sold alongside Axel Witsel, Cesar Azpilicueta and Reinildo Mandava, whose contracts have disappeared after the club World Cup ended earlier this month. And soon they will be accompanied by Saul Niguez.
Saul, originally came to Atleti in 2008, has been out of grace in recent years at the Riyadhair Metropolitano. He was lent to Seville for the 2024-25 campaign, but after he has not obtained a permanent step, his contract will now be terminated, as reported by Yagiz Sabuncuoglu (Via MD).
Saul has one of the highest salaries in the Athleti team, so there has been a wish from club bosses to get his wages from the books. And soon they will be, making some extra space in their salary limit possible.
The decision to agree that a mutual termination of contract has been made in the midst of Saul that corresponds to the personal conditions with the Turkish side Trabzonspor. A loan agreement has been discussed, but all parties agree that the correct outcome is that the midfielder joins as a free agent.
In general, Saul had a very successful time in Atleti, especially in his early years in the Diego Simeone team. But recently his performance levels have fallen considerably, which meant that he was no longer calculated – and the highlight of this is that his contract is canceled prior to schedule.
From Saul he is expected to travel to Türkiye in the coming days to complete his move to Trabzonspor, which he will sign a four -year contract. The idea is that he is a talismanic figure at his new club, and he will hope that this status drives him.
