Atletico Madrid re-ignite interest in centre-back target

During the summer transfer window, Atletico Madrid were very interested in signing David Hancko. They submitted several offers to Feyenoord, but all were ultimately rejected – so he stayed in Rotterdam.

However, it seems that Los Colchoneros Don't be deterred by the rejections in the summer. They will need to sign at least one or two centre-backs in 2025 due to the expected departures of Axel Witsel and Cesar Azpilicueta, while Clement Lenglet is only on loan from Barcelona. Hancko remains on their list, reports Ruben Uria (via ED).

The reason Atletico Madrid could not sign Hancko was because they thought Feyenoord's asking price was too high. The problem going forward is that the fee is unlikely to change too much as the Slovakia international is under contract until 2028. It will be interesting to see how serious their pursuit is next summer.
