Atletico Madrid could be looking for a new striker this summer, with Antoine Griezmann possibly heading to MLS. In preparation for this, a shortlist appears to have been drawn up by the club's sporting department, and now names are starting to emerge.
Not only Griezmann, but Angel Correa could also be on the move, as he was heavily linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia last summer, and it is possible that this interest has been reignited in the run-up to the summer. Either way, Atleti officials are preparing for the possibility of the striker's departure.
According to Marca, Fabio Silva is a player on Atleti's radar. The 22-year-old has impressed since joining Las Palmas on a season-long loan, with six goals and two assists in 16 La Liga appearances. Two of those goals came against Barcelona and Real Madrid. According to the report, Los Colchoneros officials consider Silva a perfect match for Diego Simeone's playing style, with his characteristics being very suitable.
Silva is on loan to Las Palmas from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, who would likely be open to parting ways with the Portuguese marksman on a permanent basis. However, it is not yet known what their asking price would be.
Silva seemed comfortable at Las Palmas after previous poor loan spells at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers. A few months ago he noted that La Liga is his favorite league he has played in so far in his career, and given his performances, it is clear that this is the case.
It remains to be seen whether Atleti will make a move for Silva this summer. They currently list Villarreal playmaker Alex Baena as their top transfer target, but there could be money left over for a deal with Wolves.
