Atletico Madrid are hoping to sign a new midfielder this summer and Mallorca's Samu Costa is one of their targets. However, they may not be able to make a move as there is a chance the Portuguese lynchpin could move on during the ongoing winter transfer window.
Costa has performed excellently for Mallorca over the past 18 months, and these displays have seen clubs flocking to sign him. Atleti is a great admirer, but AC Milan has now been at the front of the queue in recent days.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via ED), Milan are planning to make a bid to sign Costa this month. However, Mallorca are unwilling to allow a mid-season sale to take place, so it will be difficult for the Rossoneri to be successful in their pursuit.
This would be good news for Atletico Madrid as they will not be making a move in January. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
