Atletico Madrid has been busy in the transfer market, and they are expected to make a significant contribution to the two signing sessions that have already done this week.
Alex Baena and Matteo Ruggeri threw the Riyadh Metropolitano earlier this week, with both players now ready to participate in the team of Diego Simeone for the start of the preseason. Johnny Cardoso will also arrive soon, with his relocation of Real Betis to be completed in the coming days.
There are plans for a central defender to sign this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur and the Cristian Romero of Argentina Athleti's top objective. A deal will not be easy, but there is trust from Los Colchoneros that a deal can be closed to bring the world cup winner to the Spanish capital.
Romero may not be the only Premier League player who makes the move this summer, as it has been reported by Africafoot (via Diario AS) that Fulham -wing player Alex Iwobi is also on the shortlist of Atleti.
The departure of Rodrigo RiqueMe, in combination with the possible exit of Conor Gallagher, would somewhat short in the left midfield position, although they also have the recently signed Baena and Samuel Lino in that area. Nevertheless, Iwobi is a player who is very popular with club officials, and it is reported that an offer of € 25 million is being ready.
Iwobi can play on both wings, which means that he can cover Giuliano Simeone on the right. He is also able to play as a central midfielder, who will be handy for Simeone, even with the approaching arrival of Cardoso.
For now it is still to be seen whether Athleti Fulham is making an offer. It is unlikely that it will happen in the near future, with Romero for the time being the best target in all positions.
