Atletico release statement on health of Le Normand following second head injury

Atletico Madrid has facilitated the fears of the health of Robin Le Normand, after the Spanish International with a head in their 1-1 draw against Espanyol on Saturday. The 28-year-old also missed a considerable part of the season due to a head-knock in September.

There was concern after Le Normand went into a collision of heads with Roberto Fernandez while defending a cross. Although he walked away under his own weight, Los Rojiblancos moved to replace him immediately, but there was concern, with his head apparently bleeding at that time.

After having performed a battery tests on him, atletico has, however, released a statement stating that their medical department is maximum calm about the situation. They say that the tests that are thrown away seriously injury and that the player feels good. The evolution of the symptoms of Le Normand will determine when he can return to action.

The concern came as a result of an earlier main knock in September, when Le Normand came up with a head trauma. As a result, that head injury kept him out of operation for more than two months and returned in December, with Los Rojiblancos wanted to take every possible precautions. Le Normand even admitted that he retired afterwards.

It is not clear whether they will leave him for their upcoming games, or whether they, after they have not identified an injury, feel comfortable that he uses. With the Blaugrana that can take a nine points lead on Sunday about Atletico in La Liga, many see it as their last shot on silverware. The first stage was signed 4-4 in Montjuic, although Diego Simeone does have clear alternatives to Le Normand in Clement Lenglet and Jose Maria Gimenez, who replaced him against Espanyol.
