Atletico Madrid plans to open conversations with Tottenham Hotspur for their star defender Cristian Romero, who played a key role in ending their trophy -dried against Manchester United in the Europa League. Los Colchoneros would like to bring Romero in before the club World Cup.
As such, they plan to open conversations with Spurs, and it can be this week, say Sky Sports. Given the improvised transfer window will be closed on 10 June, they have 13 days to get a deal if they want to make it available for their journey to the United States. It is not yet clear whether Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is open to conducting those conversations.
Atletico has identified Romero as one of their top goals, and after opening conversations with Villarreal for Alex Baena, the Argentina Internaitonal will move. CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin is expected to take the lead on the negotiations on Atletico.
One of the stumbling blocks can be the price. Tottenham Value Romero on more than € 60 million report the British outlet, while Atletico hopes to pay around € 45 million for the 27-year-old. That said, some reports claim that Spurs will request around € 70 million.
Romero recently expressed the wish to play in Spain, which many names like hint, he was open to a move to Atletico. Manager Ange Postecoglou recently stated publicly that he wanted to keep Romero.

With the possible signing sessions from Romero and Baena, it would represent a second consecutive summer of large editions for Los Colchoneros.
