Angel Correa has never been a de facto starter since he arrived as a teenager in Atletico Madrid, but that does not mean that he is not appreciated by his club or his manager. Just after passing his thirtieth birthday, however, Crea can finally be looking for a greater role.
The typical Super-sub, Correa has given Diego Simeone and Atletico a lot of value that comes from the bank and rotates with other options over the years, but this year this year has seen strong performance that failed in a starting point. This summer he will only talk about his deal for a year, and so far there is little suggestion that there is a new one in the post.
According to Diario ALS, who quotes sources in Argentina and Mexico, Correa is in advanced negotiations on a move to Tigres in Mexico. That said, Atletico has not heard of the Mexican giants nor of Correa. Earlier, in the midst of interest on various points from Saudi Aarabia, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and far into the past AC Milan, Los Rojiblancos always demanded at least € 25 million for his signature, but given his contract situation, that now seems unlikely. Marca also reports the same, and they add that Correa's spirit is also at the World Cup 2026, perhaps the feeling that he has to protect more playing time to stay in the Lionel Scaloni team.
This season, Correa played 39 games, scored seven times and given five assists, still played an important role despite the additions of Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth. In particular, Correa is responsible for late winners against Paris Saint-Germain and Athletic Club, as well as an equalizer in the Madrid Derby in La Liga. Atletico will have difficulty finding a better option of the bank, but financially it can be logical for them to thank Correa for his services – although every decision may decrease from the future of Antoine Griezmann.
