Brandon Williams admitted in a candid interview with ex-manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster that he is struggling to watch football more after being released by the Red Devils last summer.
Williams burst on stage as a teenager in Old Trafford after his debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer transferred in 2019, but injuries and loss of form led him to be sent on loan to Norwich and Ipswich before he left his boy's club in 2024.
The 24-year-old is now confronted with a potential prison sentence of two years after he was guilty of dangerous driving last week.
Williams crashed his car at 99 mph 'with a balloon in his mouth' while he was accompanied by a young woman in August 2023 and will be convicted on 9 May.
Prior to his court date, Williams pronounced how he found it difficult to cope after he was not picked up by another club.
Speaking about Foster's The Fozcast, who will be released completely on Thursday, Williams explained: “It hurts me to watch football now because I just want to be there, I just want to play, I miss it in a team, with the coach, I just think it's that thing that sometimes gets too much for someone.”
Williams has not played a competitive game since December 29, 2023. He was omitted from the competition day team of Ipswich for the second half of last season, because they secure promotion to the Premier League and then did not earn a new contract with United.
More than nine months after he moved from United, Williams is still without a club, but he suggested that the break could benefit him in the long term after he had become out of love with football in recent years.
“Maybe I needed that break, just like everything to reset,” he added.
