One of the largest UFC victories by Alexander Volkanovski changed from a blessing to a curse as a result of fan recovery.
Former UFC -Fedweight champion Alexander Volkanovski wants to regain the throne this weekend on UFC 314. Volkanovski and Diego Lopes headlines a stacked map on UFC 314, while the two featherweights compete for Ilia Topuria's vacancy.
Volkanovski wants to break the first losing skid of his career after Knock -Out defeats against Topuria and Islam Makhachev. After a full year away from the Octagon, Volkanovski seems to be rejuvenated and ready to make a statement.
Volkanovski is undoubtedly one of the greatest stars of the UFC. But during his climb the ladder, one of the most important victories of Volkanovski resulted that he was unfairly labeled by fans as a villain.

Alexander Volkanovski reveals 'pretty annoying' feedback after the second victory vs. Max Holloway
Volkanovski has concluded a legendary run through the featherweight division with a title victory at Max Holloway on UFC 245 by unanimous decision. A few months later, he and Holloway were recovered at UFC 251, with the fight for a split decision in favor of Volkanovski.
Many fans and experts believed that Holloway earned the victory over Holloway at UFC 251, but the fight was very competitive for five full rounds. After defending the title, Volkanovski went through one of the darkest times of his life when fans partyed his controversial victory.
In a recent sitdown with TNT sports, Volkanovski thought about the aftermath of his victory over UFC 251.
“That was a bad time in my life,” Volkanovski explained. “I am a nice chill, nice guy. Don't try to insult someone. And Max is very well -loved … but I mean, everyone, you hear it all the time, everyone is of 'theft', every time there is a close fight, everyone will continue that way. People can, you know, pretty filthy.”
“It was difficult. It was difficult. I was really struggling with it, because again, I am a nice guy and I would never try to insult anyone. That's just how I am. And for people to hate me, just purely because I just didn't really know how to take it.” (H/t Sportskeeda)
Volkanovski turned the tide in his trilogy with Holloway on UFC 276, which resulted in a virtuoso performance that eliminated doubts in his title line. He dominated Holloway by unanimous decision and eventually earned the pound-for-pound no. 1 place.

Alexander Volkanovski admitted that he took the most recent fight a 'mistake'
Volkanovski regrets the acceptance of his last featherweight title defense against Topuria on UFC 298. Only a few months after the brutal knock -out defeat against Makhachev, Volkanovski reduced to 145 pounds and was terribly finished by the Juggernaut Topuria.
After his long break, Volkanovski wants to regain the throne and continue to cement himself as a grand. But the UFC 314 headliner from Volkanovski hardly flourished, because Volkanovski was monitored in the beginning during his time.
Now Volkanovski is out for redemption while he wants to jump back from the first losing series of his MMA career. Win or loss this weekend, Volkanovski will probably not be confronted with the hatred he has experienced after UFC 251.
