France Football has announced the nominees for the Ballon d'Or from 2025, where Barcelona grants some favorites for the prize this year. Last year Spain saw his first winner of the prize since 1960, with Rodri Hernandez 64 years later Luis Suarez Miramontes followed.
The nominees, of which there are 30, are compiled by L'Equipe and France Football and are then decided on the basis of a vote. A journalist of each of the 100 top-ranked FIFA federations has been selected, and they offer 10 players for which they think it was the best player that year and gives every 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point respectively. The three criteria for the price take into account individual versions, team performance and 'class and fair play'.
In total, seven players were nominated on the shortlist of 30 men, with four from Barcelona and three from Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid Vooruit Julian Alvarez missed the shortlist, despite a good season in the Metropolitano.
The contingent of Barcelona consists of Pedri, Lamine Yamal, which is also on the Kopa Trophy Shortlist, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. With the exception of Lewandowski, they are all to the favorites, if not to win then to hit the stage. In the meantime, Real Madrid Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior has nominated, all of whom were in the top six last season.
One of the favorites is also ex-Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele for his exploits in Paris Saint-Germain, with Vitinha also tipped to fight for the main prize.
In the Women's Award, it is only journalists from the 50 top countries who are eligible to vote. Barcelona stars Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati have won the prize in the last four years in a row. Both have been nominated again this year, in addition to Barcelona teammates Patri Guijarro, Claudia Pina and Caroline Graham Hansen.
Spain Vooruit Esther Gonzalez and Mariona Caldentey are also contrary, just like Real Madrid's Caroline Weir.
In the meantime, Barcelona, a habit in the women's section, has also been nominated for the men's price.
