According to Catalan media RAC1, Barcelona have confirmed that they will return to the 1/1 FFP rule (earn €1 to spend €1).
According to RAC1 reporter Marta Ramon, Barcelona's strategy is for the RFEF to accept that the Olmo case is force majeure.
The club assures that tomorrow they will comply with the 1-1 rule of Fair Play thanks to the sale of VIP seats and receive the approval of La Liga
Sports law expert Marc Remolà believes that the club's legal strategy is not the most effective: “The Dani Olmo case will be resolved if Barça pays the agreed millions tomorrow.”
“I believe that the case of Dani Olmo will be resolved if Barça can justify to the League tomorrow the 100 million euros agreed with Saudi Arabia in exchange for the exploitation of the VIP seats in the new Camp Nou. If so is, the matter will end here, because otherwise the mess could be much bigger for everyone.”
He believes that the Terrassa midfielder's registration will eventually be allowed, as Olmo's registration request was made before the deadline passed (December 31) and the money is simply awaiting payment.
In any case, Remolà believes that the legal strategy the club is following is not the best. FC Barcelona relies on an article in the regulations of the Spanish Federation which states that “in exceptional cases of force majeure” players from the same club can be re-registered in the same season. According to the lawyer, however, the Federation's previous resolutions in this area are very restrictive: “For me, it is not a path where there is much to do.”
Remolà defends that Barça should challenge the validity of revoking a federation license after it has already been granted, as is the case with Olmo and Pau Víctor. “In general, federation licenses are for the entire season. Moreover, the one who applies for registration is Christensen, because Olmo is active, he plays,” he adds.
Regarding financial fair play, the rule that stipulates that clubs do not roll up their sleeves by taking on too much debt, the expert explains that if Olmo's re-registration is not allowed, it would be violated.
“It would create an imbalance and inequality in the League. In this sense, the purpose of the rule would be completely contradictory and contrary to the laws of free competition and free movement of workers,” says Remolà.
If the Federation does not return Olmo's federation card this Friday, the lawyer believes that Barça could at least take another legal route so that the player from Egaren can wear the Barça shirt again.
