Barca defender rules out summer exit – ‘I’m not worried about the competition’

Barcelona left back Gerard Martin has stated that he is not worried about the prospect of the club that signed a third option in his position to compete with Alejandro Bald and herself. Earlier in the summer, Martin attracted the attention of multiple Premier League parties, but it seems that there is a movement of the table.

Martin made his debut at the beginning of last season and was largely seen as a STOPGAP solution for Hansi film when Alejandro Bald was not available. However, Flick placed more confidence in him than many had expected, and with Bald for a crucial saying by the end of the season, Martin started in the Copa del Rey-final and both legs of the semi-final of the Champions League.

Martin was associated with a move to the Premier League, with West Ham and Wolves who are both interested in him. Barcelona had set an asking price of € 12 million. Yet he explained that he had no such interest.

“I don't know if those things are true. If they were, they would have told me. I am very happy here, at Barca, and I don't want to leave here. If the coach and management have faith in me, I can't ask anymore,” he said MD.

One of the other stories that emerged earlier in the summer was a potential movement of Barcelona for the former graduate La Masia and Spain International Alejandro Grimaldo. Yet the Catalan defender was not worried about the prospect of competition.

“No, I am calm. These things come out a lot in all positions and competition is good for everyone to keep improving.”

It seems, as the things are, that Martin will be the most important alternative of Barcelona this season for Balde, apart from a surprising turn of events. There is a line of reporting that the 18-year-old Jofre Torrents can also be in the first team photo this season, after he had an impression on Barca Atletic at the end of last season.
