Over the past two to three years, Barcelona has tried to permanently say goodbye to Clement Lenglet. However, each time they failed and had to settle for loan deals (to Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid respectively).
Lenglet's two spells in the Premier League were failures, but Atleti fared considerably better. In recent weeks, he has established himself as a starter, while also putting in several high-level performances. There is therefore a good chance that a definitive deal will be concluded next summer.
According to Sport, Barcelona are delighted with Lenglet's performances this season as they believe there is now a greater chance that they can finally sell him. In their eyes, his value has also risen, although it is worth noting that they would not be able to secure a significant transfer fee as his contract expires in 2026.
It remains to be seen how Lenglet's situation will play out next summer. It is almost certain that he will leave Barcelona, and at this stage a stay at Atletico Madrid is a very likely possibility.
