It seems unlikely that Barcelona will do much business in the January transfer window given the salary cap issues. However, there are teams interested in acquiring some fringe players from Hansi Flick.
Girona have made no secret of their desire to bring Eric Garcia back to the club after a successful loan spell last season, and they tried to do so last summer. There is talk of a new move from Barcelona's Catalan neighbors this winter, with Garcia having few chances at Barcelona.
Flick was asked if he was aware of any intention for Garcia to leave the club in the coming weeks, and the German manager explained that the 23-year-old remains a useful player in his view.
“No, I don't think so. He is a good player for us. He had the problem that he had an injury at the end of last season. He is an intelligent player, he can play in different positions and we don't think about that.”
Garcia has made 13 appearances for Barcelona this season, but has featured just once in the last three months. More often than not, Flick has opted to use him in midfield rather than also in his favored position of centre-back. With Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen on their way back from injury, many are wondering if Garcia's chances will be further diminished.
