Barca not thinking about Champions League semi-finals – Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski insists that Barcelona is “not yet thinking about the semi -final of the Champions League”, despite their dominant victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The side of Hansi Flick strived in a 4-0 lead in the first stage of their quarter-final draw at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company, and laid itself on the edge of a place in the last four.

Lewandowski scored twice – and took his count for the club to 99 – after Raphinha opened the score, while Lamine Yamal was also on goal later.

And the striker insists that Barca cannot afford to get their foot off the gas in next week's return bone.

“We played very well,” he told Movistar. “We are not yet thinking of the semi -final.

“We always want to play our football. We are going to win in Dortmund. We played a very good second half. We have to keep playing like this. This is the Champions League.

“We play as a team; that is the most important thing. It doesn't matter if the strikers score, it's the team that is important. It is a step forward, but we have more steps to go.”

With 29 goals in 28 performances against his former club, Lewandowski has now scored more often against Dortmund than he has a different club in his career.

His coach, Flick, registered his 25th Champions League victory of only 29 games and became the fastest coach to reach that count in the competition and took five games less than former Barca boss Luis Enrique.

However, the German agreed with Lewandowski that, despite the strong position of his side, the draw is far from over.

“The result is important and also the way we play,” he added. “That is what happened.

“We are not ready. Football is a crazy sport. In Dortmund we have to play like today and make few mistakes.”
