Barcelona received a boost for the Copa del Rey final, with the return of their club captain. After seven months from injury, Marc-Andre ter Stegen clearly got it to return to action.
The Blaugrana included him in their team, as reported by BNN, for the upcoming collision with Real Madrid for the first time since his terrible knee injury against Villarreal at the end of September. The German veteran works his way back and has been training with the team since the end of March.
Hansi Flick will bring all his players, including the injured Marc Bernal and Marc Casado, to Sevilla while the Blaugrana tries to win their second trophy of the season, again in a Clasico. Van Ter Stegen is not expected to come across Los Blancos, with Wojciech Szczesny firmly in possession of the number one place for the rest of this season through all accounts.
However, it is not excluded that Ter Stegen could receive some playing time before the end of the season, depending on how the season takes place and in which situation the Blaugrana is located. Ter Stegen and Szczesny are expected to be in Barcelona next season, leaving with Inaki Pena.
Flick has many other injury problems to handle the Copa final, where Alejandro Bald and Robert Lewandowski joins Casado and Bernal on the Letter list. It means that the inexperienced Gerard Martin will probably only get his second start on a great occasion, the first in the second stage against Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
At the front, Ferran Torres Lewandowski will probably replace, but the key position of the battle is behind the former man of Manchester City. Flick will use Frenkie de Jong and Pedri in midfield, finished with any surprises, and one of Gavi, Fermin Lopez or Dani Olmo will get the nod.
