Barcelona could be confronted with another summer of minimal investments in their senior team, because they are confronted with more salary limit pressure. In December they agreed to sell a package for VIP chairs in Camp Nou once it has been renovated to an amount of € 100 million to illuminate their salary limit, but they could find themselves in hot water again this summer.
Clubs in La Liga and Segunda must submit controlled accounts to La Liga at the end of March, so that they can be revised and salary limits can be calculated prior to the summer transfer window. However, with less than a week before those accounts are owed, Barcelona is in line with Auditors Crowe.
Barcelona decided not to extend their contract with earlier auditors who subsidized Thornton, after the latter had decided that losses built up on the deal to sell shares in Barca Vision in the club's accounts last year, and also damaged their salary limit capacities. This time the problem is the deal to rent out 475 VIP chairs for 30 years to the visionary group of New Era and Forta Advisors. That deal enabled them to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and sign several large contracts with Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Pedri.
According to Cadena SER, Crowe claims that the € 100 million deal cannot be included in this year's accounts, because it does not yet exist. Barcelona has maintained their position that this should be justified this year, but Crowe has given Barcelona two options: either to distribute the reimbursements between 30 years of the lease, or to explain only the € 58 million in costs that has already been received this season. At least it would lead to Barcelona € 42 million shorter in their salary limit calculations than they had planned. Barcelona and Crowe now have until the end of March to reach an agreement on resolving the case. The radio outlet notes that Barcelona would already have more than their salary limit, and all signing sessions would be difficult.
Earlier it was reported that the director of Barcelona Football Deco is not sure which budget he will have to work together with before the summer, and this would certainly take on a report. This would not have been a problem if Barcelona had returned to Camp Nou this season, but with delays that worked at least in the following season, that now seems impossible, despite the original return date on November 2024.
