Barcelona and City amongst 5 teams to request seats for scouts to watch striker

Sporting CP have lost their manager with Ruben Amorim, who joined Manchester United this month. Striker Viktor Gyokeres has said he will not move anywhere until next summer, but there will be a whole host of top clubs hovering around the Estadio Jose Alvalade for the time being.

Gyokeres, 26, has become one of the most coveted strikers in European football. The Swedish number nine has already scored thirty goals this season and will be linked to a series of top teams next summer. The price tag was thought to be around €60-70 million, but given the level of interest, Sporting could be given the €100 million release clause.

According to Record in Portugal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among five teams that have requested seats for their scouts to attend their Champions League match with Arsenal this week. They are joined in the stands by Manchester City, Amorim's Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

It seems likely that Barcelona will have to pass on Gyokeres, with limited resources to invest next summer. Likewise, after spending €75 million (which could rise to €95 million) on Julian Alvarez, it would be a big surprise if Los Rojiblancos opted for Gyokeres. With Harry Kane at Bayern and Erling Haaland at City, United may feel in a unique position to play for him among the five players mentioned.
