Barcelona and Real Madrid monitoring Bayern Munich midfielder
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich was a regular for the Bavarian giants until last season, and although he has returned to a key role under Vincent Kompany, his future remains less certain. Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely monitoring his situation.
Kimmich is another player who will be out of contract next summer, and while contract talks are ongoing between himself and Bayern, there is still frustration from the experienced Germany international at the lack of appreciation he feels. Likewise, he is not keen on a salary cut from the twenty million gross he earns per year, while Bayern sporting director Max Eberl wants to reduce the wage bill.
According to SkySports DE reporter Florian Plettenberg, a move to the Premier League or La Liga would be his most likely destination if Kimmich were to leave. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring his situation.
Barcelona still need to make progress with Frenkie de Jong's contract talks and may be looking for a replacement, but otherwise are currently strong in the center of the pitch. Other reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid are not considering signing Kimmich, but are considering the idea of bringing in a pace-setting midfielder next summer.
