Barcelona will not be too busy this summer, especially in terms of signing sessions, but a number of deals will still be investigated by the club's sports department. And the first of that has now been completed.
The first of two transfer penters opened on Sunday and three days, Barcelona completed their first sale of the summer. And it is one that has been expected for a few weeks.
Alex Valle joined the Side Como Serie in January after struggling to control a regular starting place in Celtic, where he was on loan during the first half of the 2024-25 season. He was impressed in Italy, and as such, the optional purchase clause included in the agreement is now activated, as confirmed by Barcelona in an official statement.
“Como 1907 has exercised the buy -out clause for Alex Valle and as such the player is no longer tied to FC Barcelona. The costs of the operation are € 6 million. The club wishes the player the very best for both and outside the field.”
It was previously reported that Valle would have had the opportunities to stay in the first team of Barcelona, Como had decided not to buy him, but whether that would have been true or not is not relevant now. He will continue his career in Italy from next season, and the Catalans will continue with Alejandro Bald and Gerard Martin as their left options.
The money that is collected from the sale of Valle will certainly help Barcelona with their efforts to improve the club's financial situation. In the coming weeks there will probably be more players moving, with Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet and Pablo Torre all related to departure.
