Barcelona will be without manager Hansi Flick for the final two games of the year after the appeals committee upheld his red card ban.
The German manager was sent off against Real Betis for shouting and gesticulating at the referees, with Barcelona appealing. Flick claims he shouted at himself and his own players and did not complain to the referees.
That case was submitted to the committee by Barcelona, but there has been no reduction in his suspension, Sport reports. They say the video evidence does not prove the referee's report is wrong, noting that Flick complained after his red card.
It certainly seems harsh to include this last detail, as it is normal to complain after a red card of any kind, let alone when Flick believes he is innocent of the charges – the facts afterwards have usually only influence in the event of further suspension. . It is nevertheless a major blow for the Blaugrana, who will miss him against Leganes and their crucial match against Atletico Madrid on December 21.
