Three weeks ago, Barcelona tragically lost the beloved club arts Carles Miñarro Garcia, who suddenly died prior to the match against Osasuna, which was rearranged until last Thursday.
Miñarro Garcia was one of the doctors in the first team of medical staff and he played an important role as the Understudy of chief doctor Ricard Pruna. It is understandable that this is a position that Barcelona would not like to stay unattended for too long, and that is why they have moved to sort a replacement.
And it is one that has been done in-house, with Esport3 (via MD), who reports that Lucas Gómez, who is currently the doctor of the Futsal team of Barcelona, must be moved with immediate effect by Hansi Flick's staff.
Gomez, who is considered in Barcelona as a “very smart, intuitive and very good person”, has been at the club for three years. He is considered a disciple of Miñarro Garcia when the latter worked in the Futsal team setup, and the idea is that he stays at Flick's Staf for not only the rest of the current season, but also the next.
It is clear that Gomez is very high in Can Barca, and he will have large shoes to fill as a replacement for Miñarro Garcia. However, it is a role that Barcelona officials believe that he is very capable of doing, and he should be able to do the good work that the medical team did with the first team this season.
It is not clear when Barcelona will officially make Gomez the appointment, but it should be in the coming days or weeks. He could be in the dugout for Wednesday Copa del Rey Semi-final second stage against Atletico Madrid, which takes place in the Metropolitano.
